Proton Blockchain, is it still a good gamble?

A year ago I posted here about my experience with proton blockchain, the market was starting to cool down. I also cooled down in my "trans-investment" in crypto, I stayed more focused and hive and forgot a bit about the proton, vite and other free gas blockchains.

Bitcoin is showing some signs of going up, and also my interest about returning slowly to other investments outside hive also grew. Why invest outside hive? I feel that we all should spread our seeds everywhere, some won't grow, and some maybe will! I learned a lot when my main crypto investment focused in only one gate, I invested in crypto.com. The credit card with nice cashback was interesting, the coin was getting a good value, they had an interesting system of staking to get other coins as APR. But in addition to the bear market, they screwed the system, cut mostly the cashback and their coin went deeper than many others.

So I started to read again about proton blockchain, and they grew a bit as system, they have their own system of payment, almost like a bank, where you can transfer money and buy cryptos, they also are planning to release a credit card. This system called Metal Pay is pretty interesting, however I couldn't test it since it doesn't work in Canada (what a surprise), it works in the US and many countries in Europe. The app doesn't use Proton (XPR) as a main coin , it uses Metal DAO(MTL), former only Metal mentioned in my previous post, which can be bought through the ERC blockchain with crypto.com, coinbase and binance. In my last post before the bitcoin crisis, the price was around $2, now it is $1.20 , not bad , eh?

In addition, they grew a loan system based in another token called Proton Loan . There in addition of the possibility of staking the LOAN token, you can borrow or lend tokens from the blockchain or other ones, such as BTC, DOGE, etc.

Last time I mentioned a bit about the Liquidity pools of the blockchain, they grew a bit the options! And on top of that the website can be used as a market of the blockchain. The website Proton Dex is a good to go and make us a little bit more independent of the alcor exchange, which was the main market of the blockchain. There you can buy some main coins of the blockchain using tokens, such as BTC, ETH, USDT and USDC. On top of that you can trade to the newly brought proton stable coin called XMD, which can be used in some LPs.

The main coin of the blockchain Proton also lost a little bit of value during the bear market, it was around $0.20 not it is around $0.017. And it has a stake option in the wallet, with 7.2% APR, which is not bad, in addition the possibility to be used in the LPs of proton dex. Most of the LPs now are focusing to generate a newer token from the project called Metal Blockchain (METAL), I didn't read much but it looks like that it is a new environment, it has even a own wallet where you can stake this coin. You still can hold the token in the regular proton wallet (Webauth, available in IOS and Android) but there is this new wallet to hold METAL. Anyways there are interesting APR LPs going to even around 100%

Whats the conclusion? Well like any crypto for me right now I won't invest big amounts of money around proton blockchain, and I recommend caution, but it looks very interesting to go ahead
