Norovirus another headache in the North America

Life has been cruel to me, no much time for posting and even reading blogs. I was dumped with work, then had a good vacation trip last week, and now I came back also with tons of work.

So, here where I live, in November of last year everybody had a virus, my wife stayed in bed and vomited a lot and had diahrea, she had dehydration so bad that she couldn't walk, I had to bring her to the ER to get some saline solution. One day later she was better, but she felt nausea for a long time after that, almost a month, we were thinking that the virus has triggered her chronic gastritis. At that time, my neighbor and her daughter also get similar symptoms, and also many people that we know, in addition of that we heard about friends in Eastern Canada that also got similar symptoms. Stomach viruses are common, so at that time, I thought that maybe was a Rotavirus problem, which is pretty common.

So yesterday I read in the news about this Norovirus problem in North America. It is said that 60% of the "stomach flu" problems have been caused by this virus since November. It is a virus that is transmitted by body fluids and can stay on hard surfaces for days, and it is resistant to heat and even alcohol!

It is interesting how virus are emerging and having outbreaks around after COVID pandemic, interesting also about how people became vulnerable, RSV outbreaks are worst, now this common stomach virus also amplified its capabilities. People are getting dehydrated very fast with this virus, and the only way is to get a intravenous saline solution, it was amazing how my wife couldn't swallow any liquid, every time that she drank some water she vomited.

The interesting thing is that the virus entered our house through my youngest, she had diarrhea for a couple of days before my wife getting bad, interesting that these viruses always enter my home through either of our kids, funny right? COVID was the same thing through the other "door", my oldest one. And the most interesting thing is that usually, we, the adults, are the ones that get worse.

Again a reminder, don't use medications that "lock" your way out when getting a stomach virus, let it go, it will pass, and just take water. Unfortanelly viruses don't have a magical cure, our own immune system will help fight them, the only thing is that if you can't swallow liquids, and you notice that you are becoming very tired and without any strength maybe you should go to an ER to get a liquid infusion. The liquid needs to enter your body by any type of entrance, right?

Let's see if I can write again next week, I have some ideas, the problem is the time, so sorry!
