I was waiting to buy a real silver eagle to make this post. I couple of months ago I saw on eBay a listening of a 2023 US Silver Eagle for $10. I just hopped in without thinking. After I bought I read the reviews, and people complained about being fake. Well, it makes sense for the price. Also I saw the origin of the Bullion, it was from China. The chances of buying a US-famous minted silver from China, being real I think are low. Anyway, it arrived very well, and after a couple of days, I learned about the magnet trick, and the bullion got reproved. The magnet completely stuck with the bullion. I mentioned this shopping around my first posts in the SSG community, but I decided to wait to buy a real one to post about a comparison.

The bullion brings some interesting characteristics, such as the liberty figure used in the half-dollar coin design from the first half of the XX century. And of course, the bald eagle, which is the most important animal symbol in the country. A beautiful predator that is also very present in Canada as well.

The Silver Eagle is probably the most popular bullion in the world, for people around the globe. So I think it is pretty prone to counterfeiting. However, lately, I saw some maple leaves also being sold by China sellers, so be careful. We can start with the design of the coin it is completely different. The color is different. The false coin looks more like a mirror, very polished. The false coin is also a bit smaller in diameter. I didn't measure it but it is clear that. The reverse of the coin is more similar to the obverse. Despite the two coins being from different years, you can see online that the 2023 is more similar to my 2024 version compared to the false one. The reverse you can see the figure of Liberty is enrolled with the American flag and the sun in both versions. But only the real coin has the "W" under the sentence "In god we trust". That is the West Point mint mark. I read that coins produced up to 1998 don't have mint marks.

The obverse is different, which an experienced stacker wouldn't buy never just buy looking. Actually, the obverse design used in the false coin was used in all versions of the coin up to 2021. After this year they changed for the obverse found in my 2024 coin. The eagle with a shield is found in the false 2023 coin and the solely bald eagle is found in my 2024 silver coin. I also made a magnet test video to show the differences, I don't even need a device to identify the metals in both coins. The false one has nothing of silver probably.

I Still have another Silver Eagle in Brazil in my in-law's house, at least theoretically. I am going there to visit my family next week, it is a chance to check it out and hopefully, I still can find it. It is a nice coin that every collector should have at least one. I prefer getting other coins that the obverse change a bit more compared to Silver Eagles. But I hope my post also helps people to avoid fake coins.

Eu estava esperando para comprar uma verdadeira águia de prata para fazer este post. Há alguns meses, vi no eBay um anúncio de uma Águia de Prata dos EUA de 2023 por $10. Eu simplesmente entrei sem pensar. Depois de comprar, li as avaliações, e as pessoas reclamaram que era falso. Bem, faz sentido pelo preço. Também vi a origem do Bullion, era da China. As chances de comprar uma prata famosa dos EUA da China, sendo real, acho que são baixas. A Águia de Prata é provavelmente o bullion mais popular do mundo, para pessoas ao redor do globo. Então, acho que é bastante propenso a falsificações. No entanto, ultimamente, vi algumas folhas de bordo também sendo vendidas por vendedores chineses, então tenha cuidado. Podemos começar com o design da moeda, é completamente diferente. A cor é diferente. A moeda falsa parece mais um espelho, muito polida. A moeda falsa também é um pouco menor em diâmetro. Eu não medi, mas está claro isso. O reverso da moeda é mais semelhante ao anverso. Apesar das duas moedas serem de anos diferentes, você pode ver online que a de 2023 é mais semelhante à minha versão de 2024 em comparação com a falsa. O anverso é diferente, o que um acumulador experiente nunca compraria apenas olhando. Na verdade, o design do anverso usado na moeda falsa foi usado em todas as versões da moeda até 2021. Após este ano, eles mudaram para o anverso encontrado na minha moeda de 2024. A águia com um escudo é encontrada na moeda falsa de 2023 e a águia careca sozinha é encontrada na minha moeda de prata de 2024. Também fiz um vídeo do teste do ímã para mostrar as diferenças, nem preciso de um dispositivo para identificar os metais em ambas as moedas. A falsa não tem nada de prata provavelmente.

Ainda tenho outra Águia de Prata no Brasil na casa dos meus sogros, pelo menos teoricamente. Estou indo lá visitar minha família na próxima semana, é uma chance de dar uma olhada e, espero, ainda poder encontrá-la. É uma moeda legal que todo colecionador deveria ter pelo menos uma. Prefiro obter outras moedas cujo anverso mude um pouco mais em comparação com as Águias de Prata. Mas espero que meu post também ajude as pessoas a evitar moedas falsas.
